QA/QC MANAGER

Pioneered the QA/QC Department in White Aluminium Enterprises LLC - Glass Division, UAE


As the QA/QC Manager, I am in charge in establishing and managing the QA/QC Department. When I joined WAE, there is no established QA and QC department. There are no quality system and inspection and testing procedures (ITP) in place. Hence, establishing the QA/QC team and the ITP has been my priority.

Establishing the Quality Management System

Establishing the Quality Management System from scratch is a very challenging but yet interesting task. Through extensive effort of our team, we are able to accomplish the following

  1. FORMING THE QA/QC DEPARTMENT - The QA/QC Department has been formed in accordance with the need of the company. Most of our projects has a very strict quality requirements, hence, our team members are carefully evaluated in order to ensure competency on their assigned tasks. 
  2. COMPLIANCE WITH EN AND ASTM STANDARDS - Most of the projects in UAE requires compliance with either the American (ASTM) or the European (EN) standards. In most cases, particularly for our iconic projects, the quality requirement is a lot more stringent than the industry standard so we ensured that our quality control procedure is complying with the project requirements accordingly.
  3. ESTABLISHMENT OF ITP - The Industry Standards (EN and ASTM) is our primary basis in establishing our Inspection and Testing Procedures (ITP). Each section is carefully studied and analyzed to ensure that proper inspection and testing are conducted in compliance with the standards. Furthermore, some tests and inspection procedures missing from the standards are evaluated in accordance with the either for the following: (1) material supplier's inspection procedure, (2) Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) guidelines, (3) other technical references and certifying bodies such as IGMA or (4) Machine manufacturer guideline.
  4. QUALITY MANUAL AND FORMS - We created the Quality Manual for the Glass Division as well as the QC forms to record the measurements and observations. All forms and procedures are created in compliance with the requirements of the standards.
  5. COMPLIANCE WITH IMS (ISO 9001 and ISO 14001) - Compliance with the Quality Management System and the Envirenmental Management System is one of our important tasks. Apart from the fact that it is a major requirement in acquiring major projects, it ensures that our internal system is sufficient to provide customer satisfaction and leading towards continual improvement.
  6. COMPLIANCE WITH GLASS QUALITY CERTIFICATIONS - Our department is tasked to ensure compliance with special certifying bodies such as (1) Insulated Glass Certification Council - IGCC, (2) Safety Glass Certification Council - SGCC, (3) Insulated Glass Manufacturers Affiliation - IGMA, and other similar certifications.
  7. TRAINING AND QUALITY AWARENESS - We established a system to ensure the competency of the workers by conducting a routine quality training to workers in the shop floor. The training records are kept and recorded in accordance with ISO 9001.
